Part 3 Architect role

We are seeking a qualified architect with at least three years post-part 3 experience to work with the Solidspace team for a short term project (up to six months), to carry out detailed design and specification for a pair of Solidspace split-level homes in Poole.

Solidspace is an independent architect-led developer with a collection of award winning collaborative housing projects constructed since 2003 all arranged around the Solidspace DNA. The two houses in Poole are an evolution of the neighbouring Houseboat (pictured above) built in 2016 with Mole Architects, designed around the concept of upturned hulls sitting on a sea wall. This house won the Stephen Lawrence Award and the RIBA Regional Award.

The concept for these two houses similarly adopts the Solidspace DNA of split-level eat, live and work space, but using off-site construction methods for key elements of the build. We are looking for someone with good technical design skills, who is confident at detailing and comfortable producing packages of drawings suitable for purposes of off-site fabrication, quotation and sub-contracting.  You should have an excellent knowledge of building regulations, be adept at applying your expertise to the Solidspace split-level layout and a good knowledge of construction procurement – the project will be procured using  Construction Management.  An interest in DfMA (design for manufacture and assembly) and sustainable design would be helpful.

You will be working closely with Roger Zogolovitch who is the client and supported by a project manager, experience working with sub-contractors and sub-consultants such as structural engineers and M&E engineers is important.

Please send your CV and examples of your work (max 8MB attachment) to hello@solidspace.co.uk by 6pm on 14th May 2021.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview.

We would like to appoint the successful candidate to start work in June 2021.
